There’s a special time of year where my good friend, Emmie of Hunkiedorie, and I team up to create a beautiful Fall inspired tablescape for her Annual Hunkiedorie Harvest Party!
Here’s an inside look at the process from start to finish. From styling the communal table to the festive bar cart and appetizer spread, there was no shortage of autumn inspired design elements for guests to enjoy on one of Minnesota’s first crisp evenings.
DECOR
I’ve always been inspired by the Fall season and it’s beautiful, rich shades of green, blue and orange. This year’s color palette was just that, with hints of purple and dark pink hues throughout each of the spaces for added depth of color. Every year, we continue to build on the collection of decor pieces used from the previous year, and this was definitely one to remember!
The tablesacpe was centered around a large antler inspired candelabra, which I surrounded with handmade, natural garland. All of the greenery and florals were purchased from the local Farmer’s Market! The garland is a combination of eucalyptus, kale, dried hydrangeas and a variety of purple and dark pink flowers scattered throughout.
One of my favorite items incorporated in the tablescape are the plaid blankets and napkins. Adding the blankets to the table created a feeling of warmth and coziness throughout the space. Along with the blankets, napkins and hanging lights, Emmie also has a wonderful collection of colored glasses, a variety of candles and votives, gold chargers and white scalloped dishes to create the perfect table setting. A new seasonal addition to this year’s table, that made a beautiful, natural statement were the different sized gourds and pumpkins nestled throughout the garland.
The combination of varying heights, colors and textures really brought the table to life!
PLACEMENT
The tablescape was built around a stunning focal point; a vintage, antler inspired candelabra. To begin placing each element of the decor, I started by laying out the 3 plaid blankets diagonally across each table, allowing them to naturally hang off from each side. From there, the candles, all of different sizes were placed along the center. I used all of the greenery Emmie had bought and prepped to build the base of the garland down the length of the table. I began to shape the garland with the eucalyptus, then filled in the holes with the green and purple kale and dried hydrangeas, then scattered the dark pink flowers throughout for a little pop of color! The gourds and pumpkins worked perfectly as additional fillers and the fallen eucalyptus leaves were scattered throughout for good measure.
What’s next but the table settings! Here’s how I placed everything:
LARGE WHITE DINNER PLATE
SMALL WHITE SALAD BOWL
SILVERWARE TIED IN A BOW
6. DRINK GLASS
BAR CART
Another of my personal favorite features of the Harvest Party is the festive bar cart! Emmie set up a rustic, wood crafted bar cart behind the table to feature all of the yummy Fall beverages. This year, she discovered these adorable copper pumpkin cups that could easily be used as added decor as well! I staged her traditional items (glasses, wine opener and beverages) on the bar cart, while incorporating more gourds and pumpkins to tie the spaces together. I placed her mirrored sign featuring the event’s signature hashtag on the top of the cart for all the guests to see and balance the space.
The flowers left from the main tablescape were used to decorate the Bar Cart and Appetizer Table!
APPETIZER TABLE
Of course, I wouldn’t forget to share the festive Appetizer Table with you! This is another great feature of the party to showcase Emmie’s delicious food selections. I staged the table with a variety of trays of different materials and heights to give the table depth. Displaying each of the appetizer options at different heights makes everything not only easy to see, but easily accessible for guests. The featured charcuterie boards were topped off with eucalyptus leaves and fresh, seasonal herbs.
DONATE
The Hunkiedorie Harvest Party brings all of our friends together at one table, but more importantly, its really all for a great cause. Everyone brings donations to support the GoodWill!
